The Portuguese Coastal Route derives from the Portuguese Central Route as an alternative link to Galicia. It is a route along the seafront that begins in the city of Oporto and ends in Valença, where we leave the Portuguese territory and enter Galicia to enter the Portuguese Central Way to Santiago de Compostela.

In Caminha, you can continue to V. Nova Cerveira and Valença  or cross the Minho River by ferry, leaving the Portuguese territory and entering Galicia through the city of La Guardia, going along the seafront and passing by Oia, Baiona, Vigo and Redondela, where the Portuguese Central Route is picked up.
